Day 10: Heysen's B&B to Mount Compass

It rained a bit during the night but being indoor, in a warm bed it was fantastic. Morning came and we packed slowly with coffe and toast inbetween putting kit in bags. Clothes we had washed were all dry so it was to be another day smelling like rosses.

We trugged out the adode under heavily overcast skies and immediately started uphill on the road. We followed the road for a long time which helped make up the kilometers. We crossed into the Yila Conservation Park and spent a couple of hours going up and down in some dry wattle bush country. The longer we walked the more we seemed to be going around the town of Myponga and it was only in the late afternoon that we eventually managed to shake it..... much to Dee's relief!

Coming out of the conservation park we bumped into another couple on a morning stroll on the trail. They were just out for the day enjoying the cool weather. Not to much further on we came across to chaps running towards us along a fence. They were in trail running kit with bladders on their backs and I immediately knew it was the guy running the length of the Heysen from top to bottom. Yip they stopped and we chatted..... this was day 14 for him and he was trying to get to Cape Jervois.... it has taken us 19 fays to get to where we were and he was going to run there today. Yip kinda puts you in your place a bit. Just when I start thinking we are walking well and 1200km is a big thing along comes 'Kipie' and runs the distance it will take us 3 months, in justb14 days.... It's kinda nice juat being human sometimes....

Dee and I were walking well today and came to our campsite at Mount Cone early afternoon so we decided to continue and try reach Mount Compass. Luckily the walking was easy as it was mostly on farm roads and even though the ups and downs did not stop we made good time. We finaly made it to the caravan parkmonly to find nobody about. We knocked we shouted we did everything but nobody.... So much for our night in a nice hut..... we are now camping under the stars and we wil see what the owners say when they see us in the morning.

Well it was a long days walkingso bed is calling.... Untilll next time.
