Day 15: Claren Rd to Mylor

Daily distance: 20.9km
Total distance: 202.12km

Had an awesome nights sleep in the 'under cover' back yard of Jeff-fa-fa's aunt Maggie. Huge thanks guys! After packing up in leisure this morning we went round the block and had an early breakfast before Jeff took us via the scenic route back to the spot we had finished the day before.

Under cloudy skies, with 2 walking poles each we made good time indeed. In fact took a pic at our first break which showed we were moving at 4.4km per hour. My feet were also telling me we were moving that quick as well. The route was not too hilly also not the most scenic day we have had either. We spent alot of the day in pine plantations again then along fences and roads between horse farms. Just a touch of money floating round here if one takes the look of the farms here and the cars the farmers drive round here.

We passed through an old goldrush mining area called Beatrice, which reminded me of the Pilgrims Rest area. We saw old diggings, shafts, tunnels and masses of moved earth. When we moved through the area and out the other side we popped out on Todd Rd. So now we have passed a Lawless Rd and now a Todd Rd. Wonder whats next?

Mylor took awhile coming later this afternoon and when we finally made it to the outskirts of town we popped into a bus shelter to decide what and where we were going to stay. Not having a clue and also not being able to find anything on the net as far as accomodation and camping goes we were a bit stuck. Enter 'Aussie Angel 2'.....  he saw us stopped in the bus shelter, ran across the road and asked where we were staying for the night. When we introduced ourselves he got excited to hear I was Bruce and said his brothers name was Bruce.... clearly Aussie class here...... He told us all the places we could stay, then told us the best places to camp would be at the oval. It has toilets, water and a shelter along the side so we could drop our "swags" and not worry about putting up a tent. He also told us what time the general store closed and if we hurried we could make it. We were so excited we put packs on quickly and sped into town.... it was only 3 houses away..... got to the store got some pies for dinner and a iced coffee for me and came on down to the oval.

Found the spot in darkness and snuck round the side put packs down got out chairs and sat in the dark eating our pies. Next thing a whole 'mob' of people arrived, walked around us, switched on lights and proceeded to have a girls soccer practice. So much for sneaking in and out without anybody knowing.... No problem it would be 30 minutes max and they would be finished, which they were but then the boys arrived and we are still sitting here in the bright lights watching some awesome soccer practice.

Even the 'Ausie Angels' have a bad sense of humour.....
