Jeff woke us way before the crack-of-dawn to get an early start as we had a long day ahead of us. It was great being under cover as everything was dry and we did not have to take tents down. We departed just after sunrise and once again the route was straight uphill from out the door. The trek took us along the coastal dunes to the cliff edges and some of the most spectacular scenary I have ever seen.
Dee suggested we stop for some chocolate after which she was off like a rocket and we could hardly keep up. I had picked up a niggling knee injury which was killing me but ibuprofen is my hero. Alot of the dune area is under rehabilitation and volenteer groups are replanting trees along the dune. The cliffs dropped away to the side of us about 150m straight down into the sea with the only downside being the sun was right in our faces which made photography a bit tricky.
Victor Harbor came into veiw from a distance on the far side of Encounter Bay. The weather was great to walk in with a gentle cool breeze blowing and waves crashing below us. We started encountering more people walking along the beach and it felt kinda strange after 5 days on our own to now be sharing the route with tourists.
We got in VH at about 1400 and gave Belinda a ring. She had found us a place to stay on the other side of town so we decided to head into town and find somewhere to have a feed. We had all been discussing what the first thing was we would like to eat and the way it turned out was not anything like that. Steak sandwitch and iced coffee. To be fair it was the best meal I have had in a long time. Jeff took some serious abuse from the owner of the deli for being Irish and having big ears (gotta love the Ausies). After the feed we headed towards town but did not make it far until the food seriously playing havoc with our guts and the next hour was spent trotting backwards and forwards to the bog and back.
While waiting for Belinda Jeff and I had a workout in the park gym. B arrived and we piled into her small car and headed off for the villa. Definitelye an upgrade from our tents with 3 stories (like we have'nt had enough of hills) and awesome veiws of the ocean. We unpacked showered, went grocery and wine shopping and came back and put washing in the machine. Dee and Belinda made a spectacular dinner with chicken and vegies and Jeff "the comedian" entertained us until late. Too much wine and a nice soft bed..........
You all are settling in - looks awesome. Bet the beds were welcome
