We packed kit and headed off to town to do some last minute pharmacy shopping before we left. We found the trail that took us out of town past the old gaol and a few other old buildings. We folowed farm roads in a northerly direction before turning east off the road. My little toe is still not 100% yet and Jeff is battling with a sore knee and bones in his feet
Once we left the road and started along fence lines the terrain became mountainous and the climbing began. The climbing was rough and tough but the veiws made up for the climbing. We saw many Kangaroos along the way and our first fox.The weather was great with clear skies but the breeze was freezing so stopping for any length of time was out, the breaks were short. The distance to the shelter was not substantial however the terrain made it slow going.
We eventually came off the mountain dropping into the valley and onto a secoundary road leading north. It was not long and we got the turn to the Wandallah Hut. Three vehicles were parked near the shelter whose occupants we thaught may be staying the night as well. However, once we saw the shelter we realized nnonody would be staying her as it would be to cold. All it is is a three sided shelter, open on the one side. Yip gonna be cold, thats for sure.
Well we have put up my tent under the shelter and we're both going to sleep in there tonight. Be warmer however both of us have terrible flatulence and I have just been informed Jeff is cooking Mexican....mmmm.......
