Day 45: Laura - Rest day

We had a very wet and blustery night last night. Luckily inside it was a fine 27 degrees constant, thanks to aircon. Due to the rough winds outside and the fact that we are both a bit sore and blistery, we decided to take a rest day and actually enjoy some holiday. Had a big breakfast, which, 4 hours later I am still digesting. Now we are drying clothes under the aircon and catching up on the soccer world cup. Tough day.....

We drained Dee's blisters this morning to try releive some of the pain and tomorrow I will try lighten her pack. This is a difficult task as she keeps wanting to take stuff from me to put in her bag. If I dont get things packed quick, or if I need to shuffle stuff to get it in she steals it and puts it in her bag. Mmmm....

The weather is a bit iffy with a big system coming up the peninsula which is why we have the big gusting winds and rain. Looks like it's gonna be around for awhile so might get a bit wet. Ah well such is life...

Frustratingly our route has been moved and we are spending more time on roads for about 100km. The reason is there was a fire in a forest, the Wirrabirra Forest, last year and the South Australian goverment closed the forest to any form of recreation due to safety. Yip scared a branch will fall off a tree and hurt somebody...... maybe they should look at how many MVA's there are and stop people driving cars?

This has made things a bit frustrating as I said because we now have to travel on roads rather than along pathways and also because now there are no shelters or campsites we can use. We would not be in Laura now if is was not for the re-route and from here we head straight north to Wirrabara town. After Wirrabara we rejoin the trail and head north to Murray Town. If you check the map photos the reroute is the pink line and the old trail is in blue.

Unfortunately we are experiencing trouble getting the photos off the camera onto the tablet. This just means that I will post updates on the blog but until we can get another adapter they will be boring without picture's.

Please be patient, we have a problem!
