Geoff dropped us off at the Hotel in Georgetown at 08h30 this morning under misty wet skies. It was a sad goodbye to Geoff, who has become a friend of our walk and another off those "Aussie Angel's" who have looked after us so well. Many thanks Geoff.....
Our packs were heavy and felt doubly so cause we have not walked with packs for 4 days now..... well Dee for 3 weeks! We walked through a very quiet Georgetown, out onto 'Slaterhouse Rd' heading west towards Heskeys Hut. Heavy packs and muddy roads ensured we did not get a good stride going so we just slogged it out through the mud.
The weather came in thick for awhile then simply disappeared and the sun came out. We followed the water pipe line for a couple of kilometers over the hills before following an old farm road onto a secoundary road, onto the Goyder highway into Crystal Brook. We meet 4 Heysen walkers when we stopped for our lunch/coffee break. They had left Georgetown a little later than us but were carrying light so moving quick. They were also staying in town this evening at the hotel. We are slumbing it in the Crystal Brook caravan park now.
23 Kilometers with heavy packs.... welcome back Dee.
